Question: Is everything in the CoolQuotes collection recommended reading?

Answer: No and Yes.

Just because we found a cool phrase or sentence somewhere in the sphere of human conversation, it does not necessarily follow that we like or recommend that author or the body of her or his work. We encounter much in this chaotic world that does not jive with our own sensibilities but which, for some inexplicable reason, are still cool.

We do, however, absolutely recommend that you keep on reading with as much curiosity as you can muster. If something cool emerges from someone’s genius it seems well worth considering just where that coolness comes from, even at the risk of some disorientation and disruption of one’s psyche. To risk losing our curiosity we run the greater risk of sinking into an utterly mundane world.

And there is much of our very favorite reading which, for various reasons, will not be found anywhere among CoolQuotes. The fact is that most great literature, and much fascinating conversation, is too involved, and requires too much context to be particularly quotable.

The ultimate goal of the Collective, is to broaden and deepen the human experience for all of us. CoolQuotes exists only to encourage us all to dip our toes just a bit more deeply into a truly vast ocean.
