We impoverish ourselves when we spurn another’s truth. – Brother Them

At first blush, this seemed like a truism, but today it occurs that even a truism may have implications we don’t want to consider for ourselves. When another speaks a truth that we disagree with, or that doesn’t match our experience, can we give that truth its due respect without doing injury to our own truth? In giving that truth the respect that we might wish for our own truth, is there an opportunity to enrich our truth? If so, our truth is, indeed, left relatively impoverished, but only by our own attitude.
